Key facts (Department of Home Affairs, checked 2026-09-19):
- Subclass 408, Entertainment Activities stream: performers, production staff and support staff on film, television or live productions. Maximum stay 2 years, multiple entry, family can be included, apply in or outside Australia. Charge from AUD 535 main applicant.
- Supporter is enough if applying from outside Australia for under 3 months; approved Temporary Activities Sponsor required if applying in Australia or staying over 3 months.
- Union consultation required for performers (film/TV and other), production staff and support staff categories. Arts certificate required for film and TV performers.
- Subclass 400 (Short Stay Specialist): highly specialised non-ongoing work, up to 6 months (over 3 months needs a strong business case), apply outside Australia, no sponsor, family cannot work or study. Charge from AUD 535.
- Changes to dates or venues after grant need permission from the Temporary Specialist Entry Centre first.
- TourHub Australia Pty Ltd can act as the Australian sponsoring or supporting entity for parties with no local promoter.
